i worked for a gm holden dealership for 10 years and all us did was vapor clean the engine including belt journey area, i worked on thouands that v6 buick engine commodores, dont use any lube the belt must be clean and also dry,i still journey a 2000 design v6 ute 130000miles top top the clock i have only replaced belt 3 times in 14 years and those are because i have changed the waterpump out each time
Pour part clean water on the while it"s running. The water will certainly wash the antifreeze off and also quit squeaking in a minute or 2.
Over the year I"ve done whatever you guys have mentioned other than the heavy steam cleaning idea.....I guess I need to try that....Dan...
I have not uncovered a systems that works lengthy term. Silicone functions for a while, I use armor every or sil-glyde and also it can last a month. If I had some I might be tempted to try some mica powder.

The belt squeeks since it"s slipping.Lube the belt, the slips also more, it just doesn"t squeek or squeal.THE BELT need to BE CLEAN and DRY. If rinsing with level water won"t clean the pollution off the belt, I"d shot a decent detergent such as an easy Green, or Castrol Purple...or laundry detergent. Pulleys have to be clean (and aligned), too.If girlfriend can"t clean the air pollution off the belt...you change the belt.
Yep. I usually simply use light amounts of starter fluid to clean oils/contaminants and also reduce slipping. Yet some stubborn, undersized, undermaintained belts require dressing top top ocassion.
Most belts that room contaminated make noise because they are sticking in the grooves, not due to the fact that they are slipping. The solution is a irradiate lubricant favor silicone etc. The noise actually comes from ripping out the ribs of the belt native the grooves in the pulley. Worn pulleys cause the difficulty also.Belt dressing renders the difficulty worse and also contaminates the pulleys come the point that making a belt silent ever again is virtually impossible. The pulleys must be cleaned with a non-residue cleaner like brake clean and it usually takes a couple new belts ~ that prior to the belt could stop do noise.

Belt is old and has took in water. I had the very same problem and a friend who owns one auto company told me so. I replaced the belt around 60,000-70,000 miles ago. No much more squeeling....made a believer out of me.
