What do you men prefer because that transfer situation lube in this atv? Im reasoning i"ll simply use either engine oil (5W-40) or what I usage in the differentials (80W-90)..... Or should I usage something different? Thanks in advance fellas...Brian

brian, either one will work. I"ve provided 80w90 and 10w40 with no issues....im pretty sure you can use cursed neart any oil, all you have actually in over there is gears.
*

There is no seperate transport case, the entirety engine/tranny is constructed together and also is lubricated v engine oil. The front and also rear diff"s or final drives are lubed with gear oil, usually 80 weight.
Well, ns was thinking because its a transfer case, i"d just use gear oil choose the 80W-90, but the 5W-40 is easily available. Im one of those anal retentive men that transforms the oil method too lot anyway. Just got this thing and the diff oil looked prefer mud so really frequent oil changes for whatever will be the norm.

sabre, the fourtrax 300"s have actually a transfer case....they are the only honda to have them...some that the years contact for 80w hypoid, other years speak to for 10w40.
*

exception? for what lubricant come use? im not totally sure on what year they changed the specifications because that the lubrication in the deliver case....i have actually serviced some wherein it has actually it stamped "80w hypoid" ~ above the case, others havent had that marking....

I would use 80 weight synthetic myself.Remember i am actual picky as soon as it concerns my equipment.I just use Lucas oil in diffs and also any transfer case.

Yep, the Fourtrax 300 4X4 has actually a separate transfer instance that"s bolted to the prior of the engine. You deserve to use engine oil or gear oil, either one, in it. I think the business manual calls for 10W-40 GN4, yet I"ve used equipment oil and also it functions fine.
