Hey guys, me and some buddies are modding a 2002 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor for a little of off-road fun. Walk anyone have any kind of experience or knowledge about lifting castle a pair inches? We desire to fit bigger offroad tires and also gain some ground clearance.
You are watching: Crown vic off-road tires
Everything we have discovered online is because that jacking them approximately install giant wheels because that rolling approximately the hood. We are hoping because that something a bit more GRM and really just 2 to 3 inches is all we need.
Thanks for any kind of input!
Eaton springs renders 2" elevator springs because that Vic's, ns think it's roughly $400 for every 4 corners if ns remember right. Or you might measure the diameter the the vic springs and also see if possibly some truck/suv springs deserve to be cut down and still network you a lift.
I personally wouldnt use any 'donk' lift parts as they are barely great enough for road use, allow alone any type of kind of offroad with meaty tires.
Crown vics use pretty short front arms, so scrubs and geometry have the right to get means crazy deviating too much with a feather swap.
Maybe dig through the blue oval components bin and see if there are some knuckles that would bolt in that have a reduced spindle?
I would certainly unbolt the fenders, obtain the thing up in the air, and start measuring to see what you'll be able to fit with just some trimming/hammering/bending. You can be surprised how much tire those deserve to fit without having to lift it!
There's also theTrophy Vicif girlfriend wanna obtain wild.
I've never lot cared about/for Crown Vics, however that is freaking SWEET.
I personally i will not ~ use any 'donk' lift parts as they space barely great enough for roadway use, allow alone any type of kind that offroad with meaty tires.
Most offroad stuff is barely an excellent enough for roadway use..
If instrumented experimentation was done on vehicles modified because that offroad use and the results came to be common knowledge, a most things would certainly be outlawed.
Some currently are, like bumper height laws.
I don't feeling any more likely to it is in hit and killed through a Donk that can't turn and can't prevent than a lifted truck the can't turn and also can't stop and weighs also more. And then there's regular trucks towing trailers.. And also then there's semis... Slippery slope.

I'm not against offroad mods, simply the pot phone call the kettle black. Mine .02
In answer to Vigo :
I think the point is much more that few of the donk components are blatantlybad in the sense of cheap parts likely to fail. The problem isn't just how the point reacts / performs ~ the mods, it's even if it is the stuff prefer those feather clamp points they use to spread out springs, etc. Will just outright failure to do its job at some allude (with potentially bad results).
